THE LEGION HALTS THE MARCH
The year 2010 marks the 10th anniversary for THE LEGION as a recording
band. That is one whole decade of the most awesome metal madness any of us
ever got ourselves involved with. Our first and only demo tape
“Bloodaeons” sold over 1500 copies worldwide, making it one of the last
really well selling cassettes before the end of that era. Since then, a
lot of things have happened. The release of “A bliss to suffer” meant
that all contractual obligations to Listenable are fulfilled. Coincidentally,
we see the time fit for a major change.
On looking back, we are confident that we have expressed everything and
anything we ever wanted to under the name THE LEGION. Listening for that
awesome roar we used to follow, what we hear now is merely a void silence.
Hence, we have come to the common decision to put THE LEGION on hold for
the foreseeable future. This means THE LEGION will be defunct as a
rehearsing, recording and performing band.
We would like to take this opportunity (before we perhaps keep stum
forever) to thank everyone who ever came down to our shows, bought our
recordings or supported us in general. Thank you very much. Special thanks
go out to Laurent Merle for believing in us in the first place and for
giving us a great opportunity.
Cheers!

3:rd of May '09 | The new and improved The Legion website is finally up and running!
There are still a few screws to tighten and a couple of things missing (e.g. in the store section),
but that will be taken care of in no time. Make sure you check out the mp3´s in the media section,
uploaded and online are now more songs than we ever had here before.
To name but an example: "Legion", the only instrumental song we ever made,
now for the first time available off the EP "Awakened fury", where it was originally included.
For fans that kept track of us through the years,
please press play down at the bottom of this screen to listen to a selection of songs from "A bliss to suffer", our newly released, third full-length album!
27th of April '09 | As of April the 27th, "A Bliss to Suffer" is finally out on Listenable Records!
We have decided to celebrate this event by uploading yet another song for streaming listening.
"
The inimical" contains the very first material written for the album, however the song as it stands today was the last to be finished.
The lyrics were put down during one of those pitch-black August nights of 2008, as the album was approaching its very fulfillment.
We hope you will enjoy this piece of work as much as we do, reckoning it is one of those songs you never really
anticipate the potential of until it is set and recorded and proves itself to shred completely.
Next time you enjoy our blackened tunes, reeking of death, we hope it happens on a heavy rack of equipment,
at maximum volume, in absolute darkness, along with those eight other songs that constitute our most accomplished work to date.
4:th of April '09 | We uploaded a third taster from the soon to be released album "A Bliss to Sufer",
this time a harsh, blackened grind-fest which arguably goes back to our roots more than any song on the record.
"Blood, be gone!", again available at
www.myspace.com/legionsweden, was one of the first songs to be written for this album.
In its original shape it comes with a haunting intro sequence, which we scrapped for this MySpace edit.
Vocalist Martinsson comments on the lyrical content:
"Ever been so preposterously hung over you start imagining what pleasures the resolve of your human body must mean?
In part put to paper while sitting through the night bedside a literally dying woman at a home for old people,
these lines are a contemplation of the void beyond and within,
drawing on the intoxicating experience of verging between sleep and wake and not realizing exactly what is what.
As the music blasts away in a rather furious tempo, this piece of lyrics remains one of least aggressive of the album,
and is a call for a situation which doesn´t quite so closely resemble hell."
21:th of March '09 | We are proud to present yet another taster from our third album "A Bliss to Suffer",
due for release through Listenable Records on the 27 April. "A Curse for the Dead", which is available at the official
Legion Myspace,
displays the band from a somewhat new angle, relying more on a heavy groove than on violent rhythmic or speed.
This steady composition functions as a space for catching breath halfway through "A Bliss to Suffer",
but what fills the listener´s lungs is not the geist of life, but the cruel fumes from the wastes beyond the grave.
Now take a deep one!
27:th of Febuary '09 | We have now made available, on our official
myspace, a full preview track called "Call of the nameless black"
from our upcoming album "A bliss to suffer". More preview tracks will follow prior
to the release, so be sure to check back here or visit our myspace,
Legionsweden.

Comments vocalist Martinsson on the lyrical content:
"This was the first piece of lyrics I wrote for "A Bliss to Suffer", being the result of
picking up and enjoying a then newly translated essay on a certain dead American by a certain French novelist.
They say beggars borrow and geniuses steal... I don´t know in which category to submit this cascade of macabre,
dream-like free-form fantasy. Put down in the winter of 2006, this is the only one of my songs whose vocal
arrangements were entirely worked out by the rest of the band.
It brings a rhythmic quality to it that I would probably not have accomplished myself."
